Surveys

  • Culture and Climate Survey

In order for us to continue to improve our school district and school, it is important for us to understand your thoughts about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for your children.  Your feedback is important and we want to know what you think are our strengths and opportunities for growth.

The information that we receive will be reported back to your child’s school building.  This feedback gives us valuable information to support our school building’s School Improvement Plan and all of our students. We value your input as we strive to continue to improve our schools. Thank you for your feedback.

    School Improvement Survey (EES)

In order for us to continue to improve our school district and the schools within it, it is important for us to understand your perceptions about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for your children.  The survey will take you only 1-2 minutes per child (please take one survey per child that you have in the Yakima School District). Your feedback is important and we want to know what you believe are our strengths and our opportunities for growth.

The information that we receive will be reported back to each building. This feedback gives us valuable information to support our School Improvement Plans and all of our students.

We value your input as we strive to continue to improve our schools. Thank you for your feedback.

    Fair and Equitable Education Survey

Our district is undergoing an audit to identify ways to ensure our policies, practices, and outcomes are fair and equitable for all students. In addition to reviewing data and meeting with key focus groups, our plan will benefit from hearing your thoughts and experiences. The survey is designed to gather information from parents/guardians, staff, students (grades 6-12) about their experiences, beliefs, and, where applicable, their practices. The questions are broken into three sections:

    1. Personal demographic information
    2. Statements for which you indicate your level of agreement or disagreement
    3. Open-ended questions for additional feedback

All information collected will be kept confidential and used to improve the district’s and school’s approach to equity. Please note:

    • There are no “right” or “wrong” answers; provide the response that best fits your thoughts and experiences.
    • If you don’t understand or would prefer not to answer a question, you can skip to the next question.
    • Your responses will be kept private.

    Washington State Healthy Youth Survey

The Yakima School District is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey.

The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, gender identity and sexual orientation (not for grades 6 or 7), sexual behaviors (not for grades 6 or 7), abuse, risk, and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks.

Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous.

Most schools will be administering the survey online this year. No privacy issues were identified in the E-survey pilot conducted in 2019. This year, schools and districts are being instructed to disable any recording, keystroke tracking, and video capture software on school-issued devices used to take the survey. They are also going to instruct students to do the same on personal devices used to take the survey before they begin. If you use any software to monitor the device your student will use to take the survey, please turn it off before they begin to ensure their honest participation.
